Southern Weddings Magazine recently hosted a gorgeous Launch Party celebrating their latest issue at the charming Carolina Inn in Chapel Hill, NC. Natalie Clamp of Chic Sweets effortlessly created a stylish dessert table that was as stunning as it was sweet. After the party, Natalie shared a few of her tips for creating a uniquely beautiful and memorable dessert and confection table for a Bridal Shower, Wedding Reception or After Party.
Natalie recommends incorporating your personal style and tastes into your dessert table. One of Natalie's favorite creative tools is a collaborative inspiration board. She encourages her brides and grooms to share images that they find inspiring. The images may be wedding specific but quite often Natalie finds that the images are color, lifestyle, interior and fashion related. As the inspiration board comes to life, an engaging image begins to form, illustrative of the couple's aesthetic and style - clean and modern, whimsical and colorful, vintage and charming...
Once the inspiration board is complete, colors and sweets are sampled and selected. Natalie has a few personal favorites in both categories. For colors she believes in subtly sophisticated Peach, Pink, Blush and Coral hues with hints of silver and gold, while for sweets, quite a few of her choices are beloved and delicious childhood favorites--colorful gummy and sweet and sour candies and elegant cupcakes. She finds that time after time guests select their childhood favorites.
For an unexpected yet stylish statement, Natalie often incorporates printed papers and Black and White serving pieces. Dorothy Draper once said, "I'll always put in one controversial item, it makes people talk". While we wouldn't call Natalie's sweet selections and colors controversial, both are definitely "eye-candy" and encourage guests to talk about and gravitate toward the stylish confections she has created.

The tradition of wearing white wedding gowns has both historical and cultural roots. Queen Victoria is often credited with popularizing the white wedding dress in the 19th century when she married Prince Albert in a white gown.
