The Gemological Institute of America recommends regularly cleaning your diamond. A simple plan to keep your diamond always brilliant is to soak the diamond in an ammonia-based household cleaner (such as a window cleaner) overnight, once or twice per week. Followed by gentle brushing with a toothbrush that has never been used for any other purpose and to be used exclusively for cleaning your diamond.
